My name is YeYe Xu, I'm 22 years old and I started violin when I was 6. I grew up in Edinburgh, and recently graduated from King's College London with a Bachelors in Law. I'm extremely excited to be joining the Ricciotti Ensemble as an exchange violinist from the National Youth Orchestra of Scotland. I love orchestra; it's where I've developed most as a musician and made many life-long friends. I've toured all over the world with different ensembles, from China to Trinidad and Tobago, to the BBC Proms in London. The Ricciotti Ensemble is special because it takes music out of the concert hall and brings it into the community. The range of repertoire is extraordinary; perfect for me now, as I'm try new styles of music. (I'm told we are learning at least 20 pieces in 5 days – wow.) I have such fond memories of the Netherlands from playing with the Nationaal Jeugd Orkest in 2016. Not only did I try Hagelslag for the first time (and took two boxes home), but was given a huge warm welcome from the Dutch musicians, who are all so open-hearted and friendly. I can't wait to meet everyone here!
